To provide the children, teachers and parents with the appropriate instruments, knowledge and skills to actively respond to the risks of peer and gender-based violence is the main objective of the project, which will be implemented during the school year 2015-2016 in the Posavina canton.
The project titled “Prevention of peer violence and gender based violence in primary schools” is being implemented by the NGO Genesis Project under the auspices of the IN Foundation and in the primary schools in Orasje, Donja Mahala, Vidovice, Bok, Domaljevac, Tolisa and Odzak.
Based on the research that will be carried out in the primary schools the level of peer violence present in schools will be established, and then the Coordination Board for the prevention will be also established.
The research will contribute to the establishment of the high-quality database that will serve as a basis for planning the future educational actions.
The teachers in the schools covered by the project will be trained on peer and gender-based violence, and the children will be educated about the peer support skills through the workshops. Special workshops for the parents are also planned.
The project will last until the end of June 2016 and its end result will be the increased capacity of the primary school in the response to the violence by defining the roles and responsibilities of all key stakeholders at the school level.
The implementation of the project was approved and supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
