Project title: Bridges of trust and cooperation – empowering the local communities to initiate the change
Donors: Stiftung Schüler Helfen Leben Germany, UEFA Foundation for children
Duration: January 2020 – December 2022
Location: Divided local communities and primary schools in Central Bosnia Canton and Herzegovina-Neretva canton, Federation of BiH, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Beneficiaries are children (pupils of primary schools), their schoolteachers and parents, living in ethnically and religiously segregated and divided local communities which are overburdened with segregation, lack of tolerance and absence of the cooperation and communication.
Number of meaningful ENCOUNTERS between different groups in local communities is increasing and people are more willing to self-organize, without external facilitation. We aim to directly contribute to the increased number of meaningful encounters between different groups in the segregated and divided local communities. In targeted local communities we will implement different joint activities between ethnically divided groups of people, so that they, at the end of program, express greater willingness to self-organize meaningful encounters. Overall goal is to create the atmosphere in which the ENCOUNTERS between different groups in local communities are more prevalent and people are more willing to self-organize, without external facilitation.
Planed activities to address the problem:
Educational systems in B&H are based on outdated and rigid educational methods. Our educational solutions (such as puppet theatre plays, drama theatre plays, gender mixed football trainings, movies-production workshops, trainings or seminars for children/parents/teachers) are based on creativity, imagination, communication, respect, tolerance, acceptance “others and the different ones” and love. That is why we plan to use them to address the problem! We are innovative in compare with the existing educational systems because we appreciate individuality, we develop critical thinking skills and we accept specificities of every child.
