An educational dialogue platform was held yesterday in Travnik for 36 participants from various social sectors from the territory of this municipality. The goal of this platform is that the participants actively participate in the dialogue, to have their opinions and views heard, and to understand the concept and importance of quality education. Emphasis is also placed on the importance of international research, and the goal is that the participants convey the information obtained to the target groups and individuals in the local community.
“The educational dialogue platform aims to introduce all actors of social life and experts in the field of education with the importance of the concept of quality education. Today, together with two professors from Sarajevo, we talked about the recently conducted international Pisa testing, which was conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina and whose results will be published on December 3. It will show us what we need to change in education in BiH to prepare the children for a modern labour market, “said Dijana Pejić, executive director of the Genesis Project.
The lectures were given by Prof. Dženana Husremović, D.Psych.SC, and Radmila Rangelov Jusović, Doctor of the Science of Pedagogy and Lejla Hadžimešić, UNICEF BiH consultant.
“We have all mostly heard about the terms PISA, TIMSS, etc., but we have never had the opportunity, if I can say it freely, to, in person and through the discussion, find out some important facts about them. First of all, through the presentation and the discussion itself, a lot could be learned, and we could also be prepared for some additional challenges and a research of this type. During the discussion, I referred to a very important thing regarding the learning outcomes of primary and secondary school, which is the basis for continuing education and training. If the foundations are not well defined and clear, everything else that follows from that cannot demonstrate good quality”, said after the platform, Ahmed Palić, senior assistant with a master degree in mathematics and mathematical sciences.
The educational dialogue platform in the municipality of Travnik was implemented together with the municipal administration, which is a partner in the project within the “Dialogue for the Future” project implemented by UNICEF, UNESCO and UNDP in partnership with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The “Dialogue for the Future” project is funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office / Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) and by the Norwegian Embassy.
“Every conversation about education, exchange of experiences, constructive comments from people who are directly or indirectly involved in education are very important. We are all part of the education system and it is very important that we are involved in solving problems and facing the challenges that lie ahead. I believe that with the suggestions and ideas of all participants in today’s dialogue platform, we will give our contribution to do everything to make the quality education system as high as possible. I believe that we will discuss this topic and the changes that are obviously necessary in our country after the publication of the results of the PISA research”, said journalist Rahela Čabro, one of the participants in the platform.
The “Dialogue for the Future 2” project aims to create a space for dialogue that will enable the process of building peace throughout the country in order to continue to promote coexistence, build trust and respect for diversity. This environment is also generated through the mechanism of the local dialogue platform, as a tool that serves as a catalyst for all initiatives to spread peace and trust within the local community.
The project aims to provide adolescents and young people, NGOs, women’s associations and informal groups, with the opportunity to build their capacity for constructive dialogue in the community, and together with others, in local dialogue platforms to identify priorities for improving social cohesion in the community, recommend workable solutions for them and present them to the local authorities.
