Within this project, which aims to raise awareness of the rights of children with disabilities a total of 108 films in 12 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina were made, and two films from each municipality were selected for the finals.
Movies are selected in the following categories: Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor, Special Jury Prize, Audience Award (the movie with the most views on the UNICEF YouTube channel) and the Grand Prix for the Best Movie.
Children who are the authors of these movies will receive valuable prizes.
One-minute movies are the method by which young people in their own unique and creative way can indicate possible problems, weaknesses, desires and needs.
This methodology is used by UNICEF in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the help of partners from the Genesis Project, as a new model of the active involvement of children in addressing issues that concern them.
This year, the focus of one-minute movies has been on the promotion of children’s rights and social inclusion with particular focus on the abilities and rights of children with disabilities in accordance with the campaign “It’s about ability.” The objective of this campaign launched by UNICEF in partnership with USAID and the European Union Delegation in BiH is to improve knowledge and change attitudes and practices of the general population concerning children with disabilities and their families.
The campaign is an integral part of the program “Strengthening the Social Protection and Inclusion System in Bosnia and Herzegovina” implemented by partners in the institutions of government and UNICEF. The activities of this program contributed to the improvement of the strategic framework and providing inclusive services at the local level in the fields of education, child protection, early childhood development and early detection and intervention in the case of developmental disorders.
The “Take us seriously – it’s about ability” project, implemented by the Genesis Project NGO is also an integral part of the program “Strengthening the Social Protection and Inclusion System in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and the campaign “It’s about ability.”
