During the period from December 8 to December 16, the humanitarian organization “Genesis Project”, as a technical partner of UNICEF, successfully implemented four trainings of school expert services, within the Program of Secondary Prevention focused on the identification and protection of children from risk factors in primary schools of the Hercegbosna County and Una-Sana Canton.
A total of 67 representatives of expert services from nine primary schools in the Hercegbosna County and 49 primary schools from the Una-Sana Canton were trained to introduce the Program of Secondary Prevention and exchange knowledge and skills needed to effectively identify and support children at risk.
Among the trained participants there were also five representatives of mental health centers and social welfare centers who will support schools in developing an Individual Care Plan within this project.
The participants followed the lectures of the expert in school psychology prof. dr Ivana Zečević, doctor of psychological sciences, head of the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka, and experts in developmental psychology prof. Dr. Slavica Tutnjevic, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka.
The trainings were held on December 8 and 9 in Bihać, on December 15 in Livno and on December 16 in Sanski Most, in compliance with all hygienic and epidemiological measures, as well as the number of people gathered indoors.
By the end of the school year 2020/21 three more one-day trainings will be realized for each of the four formed groups of school expert services.
The Program of Secondary Prevention aims at timely prevention of the risk of socially unacceptable behaviors as well as protection of children from violence and neglect. Program activities are aimed at the student to adopt effective individual and socially acceptable behaviors by developing the skills necessary for comprehensive growth and development, and caring for themselves, others and/or the environment.
The program of secondary prevention in schools of Una-Sana Canton and Hercegbosna County is implemented by the humanitarian organization “Genesis Project”, as a technical partner of UNICEF Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the project is implemented under the auspices of the Swedish government.
