The Genesis Project was awarded the prestigious international award for peace activism "Tomorrow's Peacebuilders", which is given by the international organization Peace Direct at the global level, in a ceremony held in London.

nagradaThe Genesis Project organisation was selected among 250 candidates from around the world thanks to the fact that in a unique way brings the children together from different communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina through art and creativity.

The award was received by the director of Genesis Project Dijana Pejic who stressed that she was greatly honoured with this award which is the recognition of years of work.
“We are one of many organisations that were nominated and I would like to mention that each of them is worthy of this award. The award is the recognition of our hard work during almost twenty years”, pointed out Dijana.
She explained the work of the Genesis Project with an illustrative speech at a ceremony in London:
“Our success story started back in 1997 when a group of young and rebellious people from Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to found an organization as an answer to despair, war and intolerance. Today at receiving this Award we feel both confused and proud. Why confused? Because our society and community has not made progress we had hoped for. Since Bosnia and Herzegovina is still a deeply divided and insecure country full of pain and fear. Why proud? Well, we began to truly and deeply believe in “The Starfish Story”, which tells about a young man walking along a sandy beach covered with starfish and returning them back into the sea. On the remark of the passers-by that the beach is covered with millions of starfish and that what he is doing does not matter, the young man picked up a starfish, tossed it back into the sea and said:”It Matters to This One.”
