A total of 14 one-minute movies, which the Genesis Project implemented in partnership with UNICEF, USAID and the European Commission Delegation in BiH within the framework of the “Take us seriously – it’s about ability” project, were shown at the International Film Festival Kratkofil Plus in Banja Luka.
Each of the movies was given a huge round of applause at the packed Kastel fortress. One-minute movies were entirely produced by children with and without disability, and they were made all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their aim is to promote children’s rights and social inclusion, with particular focus on the abilities and rights of children with disabilities. The campaign “It’s about ability” that aims to improve knowledge and change attitudes and practices of the general population of children with disabilities and their families was initiated by UNICEF, in partnership with USAID and the European Union Delegation in BiH. The campaign is an integral part of the “Strengthening social protection systems and inclusion in Bosnia and Herzegovina” program which is implemented by the partners in government institutions and UNICEF. The activities of this program contributed to the improvement of the strategic framework and providing inclusive services at the local level in the field of education, child protection, early childhood development and early detection and intervention in case of developmental disabilities. The “Take us seriously – it’s about ability” project, implemented by the Genesis Project NGO is also an integral part of the “Strengthening social protection systems and Inclusion in Bosnia and Herzegovina” program and the “It’s about ability” campaign.
