Within the “Rebuilding trust and confidence among children attending divided and segregated primary schools in Middle Bosnia canton” project, during the first semester of the 2014/2015 school year, 44 workshops with children in 16 schools from this Canton were held.
The project which is being implemented by the NGO Genesis Project from Banja Luka, under the auspices of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, aims to create a safe school environment for children through the implementation of the social inclusion model.
It was planned, by the end of the project, to have a total of 64 peer education workshops held with pupils who will then, on the basis of the acquired knowledge, educate their peers through 16 homeroom classes.
Children have been educated through workshops on the peaceful conflict resolution and communication skills, and through work they have been motivated to organize joint activities too. Workshop participants are being trained to continue education on topics such as peaceful conflict resolution, children’s rights and social inclusion, intercultural understanding and communication skills.
Pupils were tested prior to workshops on the topics of the project in order to have the level of their knowledge determined at the end through the output test.
The project, which has been implemented since November 1, 2014, will include a total of 180 direct beneficiaries and will last until 31 March of this year.
