Within the “Safe environment for children in segregated schools of Central Bosnia Canton” – sustaining the change” project, which is implemented by Genesis Project from Banja Luka, the first seminar for teachers and educators, out of five in total, was held in Vlašić. Teachers and school counselors from sixteen schools, which are organized according to “two schools under one roof” principle, participate in the seminar and the participants were presented with the results of previous projects and publications produced in cooperation with the relevant Ministry. Workshops and lectures were also carried out.
This project, which involves sixteen schools from the Central Bosnia Canton, the Genesis Project has been conducted since 2009, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport .
The project is focused on building a safe and stimulating environment for children and consists of workshops with teachers and children, and educational puppet shows for children.
Project beneficiaries participate in joint activities in order to, through personal contacts, get to know each other and become friends, and they also recognized the need to be educated on the skills of peaceful conflict resolution and communication skills.
To influence building trust and change of attitudes among different ethnic groups as a precondition to create a safer environment in schools; to educate beneficiaries of the project on the skills of communication and peaceful conflict resolution; and to improve communication and cooperation among the divided ethnic groups, are the objectives to be achieved.
For the implementation of this project, which will take until February 2014, the Genesis Project has received support from the German foundation Stiftung Schüler helfen Leben, UNICEF BiH and the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia.
