Within the “Rebuilding trust and confidence among children, teachers and parents in divided and segregated schools of Middle Bosnia canton” project, financed by the German foundation Schüler helfen Leben and UNICEF, and implemented by the NGO Genesis Project from Banja Luka , the recording of the one-minute movies which are completely made by children, started in this Canton.
With the guidance of the trainers from the Genesis Project, the first movies were recorded by the elementary school students from the “Brestovsko” and “Kiseljak 1” schools from Kiseljak. By the end of April the students from Fojnica, Gromiljak and Bugojno will also participate in the shooting and the total of the made movies would be about 40.
The specificity of these movies is that they are fully made by children, who during the five-day training undergo the entire process of shooting a short movie: the designing of the scenarios, casting, location choice, shooting and directing.
Throughout the movies, the children cover the problems that are parts of their daily lives and the topics such as child rights, peaceful conflict resolution, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and the like are addressed.
The UNICEF in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the help of the partners from the NGO Genesis Project, is using the methodology of the one-minute movies as a new model for the active involvement of children in dealing with issues that concern them.
The “Rebuilding trust and confidence among children, teachers and parents in divided and segregated schools of Middle Bosnia canton” project has been implemented since last year in Kiseljak, Busovaca, Vitez, Fojnica, Jajce, Bugojno and Gromiljak.
Its main goal is to create a secure environment in the 16 schools that are involved in the project, and this is achieved through a range of activities. In addition to the one-minute movies, there are workshops with children organized and the interactive peer education workshops. The workshops are also organized with the parents and teachers of the included schools. Within the project, the educational interactive puppet shows, whose aim is to educate students on the topics of the project in a fun and creative way, will also be played in the schools. The project ends on the 30th April this year.
