The play “Friends are made, not added”, performed by NGO Genesis Project from Banja Luka had 50th jubilee performance today at the elementary school “Dolac” in Dolac on Lašva. With this performance, which is also the last one within the project, this educational play that addresses the dangers of the Internet has been seen by over 3,500 children from the Central Bosnia Canton. The project is implemented by the NGO Genesis Project within the project „Promotion of peace and security through educative, interactive theatre performances in primary schools / Safe Students – Gender Responsive Schools“ with the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, and with the autorization and approval of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Central Bosnia Canton.
The play has so far been played in Bugojno, Busovaca, Fojnica, Jajce, Kiseljak, Novi Travnik, Vitez and Travnik. It addresses the values, which under the influence of modern technologies and social networks, have been slowly relegated to a secondary role and with an interesting scenario, shows the children the dangers that are attached to the communication on social networks. It also asks the teenagers whether we have become prisoners of social networks, and that we are not even aware of it? Has the image of the golden cage in which we sit become more important than freedom? Whether we like it or not, we live more and more in two parallel universes. One is virtual, the other is real. The problem is that our virtual world seems far more attractive, easier, simpler, and therefore better compared to the real world. In the virtual world, we can be someone else, someone better, more beautiful, better, richer … and therefore easily lose touch with real life and the concept of true values.
The play “Friends are made, not added” as its name suggests, symbolically points to children on all of these issues and educate them on how to communicate in the right way. The pupils who watched the play point out that they learned a lot, and that they especially liked the way in which these topics were presented because they generally thought they would listen to “another lecture”. The NGO Genesis Project has been implementing interactive and educational performances within their activities for over 20 years in elementary schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
