LOCATION: Target region:
• 2 primary schools located in the municipality Gradačac, Tuzla Canton, FBiH
• 2 primary schools located in the municipality Jajce, Middle Bosnia Canton, FBiH
• 2 primary school located in the municipality Lopare, Republika Srpska.
OVERALL GOAL: Provide school teachers, parents and children with the appropriate tools, knowledge and skills in order to actively participate in the establishment of effective responses to the risks posed by peer violence, gender based violence and armed violence.
This project is developed in accordance with the Outcome 2. of the joint Armed Violence Prevention Programme implemented by the UNFPA, UN Women, UNDP, and UNICEF.
The aim of this project cooperation agreement is to target different groups of beneficiaries in selected locations – children, teachers and parents and to enable them to initiate, develop and support the school and community based responses to peer violence, gender based violence and armed violence among children.
Proposed project is composed from following activities:
• Activity 1. Survey implementation in 6 selected schools
• Activity 2. Establishment of School Coordination Board on Non – Violence
• Activity 3. Basic training for education of teachers on peer violence, gender based violence (GBV) and armed violence
• Activity 4. Training for trainers on peer violence, GBV and armed violence prevention (teachers – mentors)
• Activity 5. Peer support workshops
• Activity 6. Coordination and cooperation with the representatives of local community
• Activity 7. Coordination and cooperation with the representatives of MoE
• Activity 8. Establishment of School Safety Network
The expected result(s) of the cooperation:
• Quality baseline information on attitudes, perceptions and knowledge on peer violence, gender based violence and armed violence in targeted local communities is available and informs action planning at the school and community level.
• Increased capacity of schools to respond to violence through definition of roles and responsibilities at the school level, defining cooperation with the community, increased technical knowledge and skills of school personnel and children.
• Monitoring of violence mechanism established at the school level.
Project beneficiaries are:
• It is expected to reach approximately 90 schoolteachers through meetings, trainings and workshops and to reach approximately 60 children primarily through the peer support workshops and 2500 children secondarily through the elements of the School Safety Network.
