At the beginning of June the NGO Genesis Project participated in the projects fair in Banja Luka supported by the US Embassy in BiH. Within the fair, the NGOs from Bosnia and Herzegovina were awarded the certificates for participating in the “Choose the Cause, Be the Effect” challenge.
NGO Genesis Project took the challenge and gladly responded to take part in the promotion of voluntary work , and the organization regularly reported on various volunteer activities implemented in the previous period.
Genesis Project received Certificate of appreciation as the recognition of the volunteer aspect of humanitarian work. The certificate was assigned after Genesis Project took part in a challenge “Choose the Cause, Be the Effect”.
“Choose the Cause, Be the Effect” is a campaign that encourages all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially young people, to engage in community service projects by donating their time
, resources or knowledge to bring about positive change in their communities.
Last year, 23,000 new volunteers got involved in various activities and the action has achieved a remarkable success. This year, the goal is to, through additional promotion of voluntary work, reach the figure of 25,000 volunteer days.
“A Certificate of appreciation, which we received, is the recognition of the volunteer aspect of our humanitarian work and it means a lot to us, especially in terms of future motivation for our work. We intend to continue to actively work on promoting volunteerism, especially among children from the primary schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina that we meet regularly as part of the project activities,” said Dijana Pejic, director of the NGO Genesis Project.
The organisation Genesis Project was awarded the prestigious prize for peace activism by the “Tomorrow’s Peacebuilders” organisation.
“We received this award in 2015 for perennial efforts in working with children and teachers who attend the divided schools, with the goal of building peace, tolerance and coexistence,” explained the director of Genesis and added:
“We are also proud that we are now in the final selection for an important, international award, the ” WISE AWARD” which is awarded every year by Qatar Foundation, for projects that can boast with innovative approaches in education. We are in the finals due to creative ways of educating children about the dangers of mines, through interactive, educational, puppet show “The strange trial”. The winners of these awards will be announced soon.
