In order to introduce the Program of secondary prevention and exchange of knowledge and skills needed to effectively identify and support children at risk in ten primary schools in the Una-Sana Canton and two schools in the Heregbosna County, a total of 12 trainings have been held so far for teachers and school expert services.
In the area of the USC, the trainings were held in the period from the 15th to 23rd October in the primary schools “Bužim” and “Mirsad Salkić” – Čava, in the municipality of Bužim, then in the primary schools in Cazin “Ostrožac”, “Stijena” and “Pećigrad”, and the trainings in this period were also attended by the teachers of the elementary school “Podzvizd” Velika Kladuša, “Prva osnovna škola”, Velika Kladuša, Sana schools “Vrhpolje” and “Mahala”, and the elementary school “Ključ”.
In the Hercegbosna County, the trainings were held at the Elementary School “Drvar” in Drvar and the Elementary School “Grahovo” in Bosansko Grahovo.
During this period, a total of 211 teachers and professional associates were trained, out of which 185 in the Una-Sana Canton and 26 in the Hercegbosna County.
The trainings were held by experts from both cantons, a total of 12 pedagogues and 6 psychologists, divided into 6 support teams. Each support team consists of 2 pedagogues and 1 psychologist, who provide training for teachers and school expert services according to a pre-agreed schedule. All experts underwent a two-day training, during which they had the opportunity to get acquainted in detail with the school program of secondary prevention and the instruments used within this program.
The trainings were organized according to the already established plan, with respect to all hygienic-epidemiological measures and the number of people gathered indoors. Along with the lecturers and representatives of the Genesis Project, up to 25 participants were present at the trainings.
According to the plan, from October 15 to December 15, 2020, a total of 58 trainings, 49 trainings in primary schools of the Una-Sana Canton and nine trainings in primary schools will be realized in the Hercegbosna County.
The Program of Secondary Prevention aims at timely prevention of the risk of socially unacceptable behaviors as well as protection of children from violence and neglect. Program activities are aimed at the student to adopt effective individual and socially acceptable behaviors by developing the skills necessary for comprehensive growth and development, and caring for themselves, others and/or the environment.
The program of secondary prevention in schools of Una-Sana Canton and Hercegbosna County is implemented by the humanitarian organization “Genesis Project”, as a technical partner of UNICEF Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the project is implemented under the auspices of the Swedish government.
