“Schoolyard – a safe place for hanging out, playing, growing up and have a break”, is the name of the Action Plan, which was presented today in the municipality Laktaši by a schoolgirl Natasa Brestovac.
Natasa is a member of a research group of fifteen young people aged 15-19, who were actively involved in the “Support Mechanism for Violence Prevention and SALW Risk Reduction” project since September in the municipality Laktaši.
Led by the coordinator, a social worker Bojana Filipovic, the pupils found, through various workshops and surveys, that young people in their municipality do not feel safe, and that they lack recreational facilities, landscaped grounds and a place to socialize and play.
Natasa has also presented their proposal to improve this situation, and that is to enhance conditions for the healthy growing up of children in Glamočani through equipping schoolyard with facilities for recreation, sport and relaxation, which they lack.
For this purpose UNICEF BiH which is, together with the Kingdom of Sweden, a sponsor of this project, will donate 3,000 KM and as Natasa pointed out, any assistance, for the realization of this idea for the young people, is welcome.
Laktasi Mayor Milovan Topolović commended the project and the initiative of young people and thanked UNICEF for their cooperation and support on not only this one, but also on other projects that have been implemented in this municipality.
Project and presentation was also supported by the president of the Assembly Laktasi, Snjezana Kelecevic, who pointed out that the in the work program of the Municipality passing of the new strategy of the youth policy has been planned, which will include some of the recommendations of the research.
Radoslav Savanovic, director of the elementary school in Trn “Desanka Maksimovic”, that was involved in the project, had only the words of praise for the young researchers.
As part of the presentation eight one-minute movies were also shown, that were designed and created by children in the municipality of Laktaši, which cover the topics of the project, i.e. the problems of violence and weapons.
The “Support Mechanism for Violence Prevention and SALW Risk Reduction” project has been implemented by Genesis Project in six municipalities and 16 Primary schools, including Laktasi.
