Ombudsman for children Dr. Nada Grahovac spoke to Dijana Pejic, program manager of the Genesis Project NGO, which cooperates with the Institution on the “Support Mechanism forViolence Prevention and SALW Risk Reduction” project, which is being implemented with the consent of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, under the auspices of UNICEF BiH and the Swedish International Development Agency.
Project objective is strengthening the involvement of children in violence prevention and strengthening professional and institutional capacities to implement and monitor prevention programs at schools.
The expert group which was formed for the purposes of the Project, having also the Deputy Ombudsman for Children as its member, analyzed the application of the “Rules of Procedure in case of violence, abuse or neglect of children” in the elementary schools of the Republic of Srpska during their months of active work. Experts have recognized the need for additional education of the representatives of elementary schools on the types of violence, the role of the Protocol, examples from practice, filling out register lists and prevention programs planning.
In accordance with the identified needs two one-day seminars for representatives from 92 primary schools in the Republic of Srpska will be organized.
